1 Secret Trick to Keep your Body Burning Fat All Day Long

Archives for August 2014

The fat loss journey is often an arduous, slow process. We live in a super, fast paced world with instant messaging, fast food, apps for just about everything, etc.

We are so used to fast results that when we try to lose weight, we just cannot accept that it’s taking so long.

The body does what the body wants. You can’t rush it to burn more fat, and if you do try to rush the weight loss process, you’ll probably end up hitting a plateau.

In a worst case scenario, you may injure yourself or become sick in the process. There is no app available to speed up fat loss.

However, there is one secret technique you can use to keep your metabolism up throughout the day. The rate at which you burn fat is directly related to your metabolic rate. The higher it is, the more fat you will burn. Plain and simple.

You should note that even when your metabolism is high throughout the day, your fat loss will not be instant. It will be faster but it won’t be microwave fast. So, do not have overly high expectations.

If you follow this technique, you will maximize your fat loss and that is always a plus.

Every time you exercise, either with a hard cardio session or resistance training session, your metabolic rate gets a boost and stays in fat burning mode for a while after you stop exercising.

This is known as an “afterburn” effect.

The more intense your workout session is, the longer the afterburn lasts. That is the reason so many trainers prefer short, hard sessions over slow, moderate cardio that goes on too long. In some cases, an intense full-body weight training session can have an afterburn effect that lasts 12 to 14 hours.

pushups

Your body is burning fat for hours and hours. But, engaging in hard training sessions daily will take a toll on your nervous system. That’s where our training session comes in.

Throughout the day, anytime you have 5 minutes to spare, you can do a quick workout. It could be 30 push ups followed by 40 mountain climbers. Or 3 sets of 10 burpees.

These are extremely quick workouts that have only one purpose. To elevate your heart rate and give your metabolic rate a quick boost.

They do not take long and can be done anywhere. Bodyweight exercises are all you need. You just need to do them rapidly for 2 to 4 minutes. What this does is that it keeps your body in fat burning mode constantly.

After a few hours, when your metabolic rate is starting to drop, another quick 3 minutes of exercise will perk it up again.

Do this throughout the day and not only will your metabolic rate be at an all-time high, but you will also feel more active, fit and alert.

Daily life can be monotonous. These little workouts will challenge you and even if you are tired, once you do a quick workout, you will be all pumped up and ready to take on the world.

PS – Your morning ritual is KEY to fat loss.

Do it right…and losing fat becomes so easy it's almost like cheating.

Do it wrong…and you'll cripple your metabolism, which makes fat loss almost impossible.

5 Critical Keys to Kill Your Cellulite

Contributed by – Joey Atlas, Womens’ Body Enhancement Specialist — M.S., Exercise Physiology

“Ask any woman on the street what the definition of “cellulite” is and you'll get a confused variety of answers. From “toxic fat pockets caught in the skin” to “bands of fiber pulling down on the skin” and many odd things in between…”

no more cellulite orange bikini

The truth is: most people really don’t know what “cellulite” actually is, or, what causes this odd appearance of the lower body trouble zones…”

This is no surprise as there actually is no such thing as ‘cellulite’… So how do we get rid of something which doesn’t exist?”

Here’s the answer:

“The word, “cellulite”, was cleverly made-up several decades ago, in a European beauty-spa, to DESCRIBE the bumpy, shadowy and dimpled appearance of skin in the lower body trouble zones of the female body. (butt, hips, thighs, legs)”

The beauty spas then started cashing-in and profiting big-time by marketing “beauty” services and products to get rid of “cellulite”. And if you're like most women who've been challenged by this issue, then you probably already know all of those passive and superficial beauty treatments do not get rid of the dented shadows and mushy dimples on your buns, legs and thighs.”

In order to make your lower-body smooth, tight and attractive, there are 5 steps to follow.

Here they are:

5 Critical Keys to KILL Your Cellulite

1: You cannot get rid of the dimples and shadows (cellulite) by rubbing an odd gel, weird lotion or goopy cream on your trouble zones and problem spots.

So, stop using them – as some can actually make your cellulite worse.

Despite the fact that there are dozens of supposed ‘cellulite reduction creams’ on the market, there is no possible way for any one of them, no matter how expensive, to get rid of your cellulite. Cellulite is not a skin problem. Its an underlying structural issue, that can only be corrected by reversing the cause of atrophied muscle fibers directly beneath your “cellulite” trouble spots.”

Since the squishy dimples and shadows are a superficial symptom of a problem below the surface; it’s impossible for the creams, lotions or gels to have any physiological impact on the cause of the issue…”

2: Risky and expensive ‘medi-spa treatments’ can only reduce your bank account – not your cellulite problems. And there are many consumer reports about women being seriously scarred or injured as well.

Stay away from these as the FDA reports show women who’ve been scarred or injured for life.

Painful, dangerous and uncomfortable services ranging from endermologie to body-wrapping have been proven to be totally ineffective when it comes to treating cellulite. However, advertising and marketing loopholes allow these services to be cleverly marketed to desperate women who are at wits end with the unattractive dimples and shadows on the lower-body problem areas.”

3: The unattractive dimples, shadows and saggy ripples known as cellulite are not ‘genetic’ and you are NOT stuck with them forever if you have them.

Falsely believing this will prevent you from getting rid of your cellulite. So, don’t entertain this nonsense for 1 second.

These two ridiculous myths are often passed around by ‘neighborhood know-it-alls’ – and many women actually believe these 2 myths – especially if they haven’t found the right way to get rid of the cellulite. Whats even more alarming are the number of doctors who also believe in and foster these 2 demoralizing falsehoods.

Yes – it is common to see a mother and daughter, both with the lower-body “orange peel” look, BUT this doesn't mean cellulite is genetic – it simply means both women have not found a way to lift, tone and firm the muscle layers under the dimpled, saggy skin.”

4: You can get rid of cellulite, regardless of your age – or when you began to notice it.

Since cellulite is a structural issue (muscle) – it can be fixed with simple and unique body movements which target the cellulite areas.”

These types of moves can be followed by any woman, regardless of her age or fitness level. And it doesn’t matter if the cellulite started in the early teen years – or after pregnancy – or after menopause – it’s still a structural issue that results from soft, un-toned muscles underneath the saggy, dimpled, shadowy skin.”

5: The only proven way to permanently get rid of the dimples and shadows of cellulite is through a series of simple, yet specifically targeted lower-body movements

These unique movements focus on lifting, shaping and toning the muscle layers so they gently push outward against the skin – to bring back the smooth, tight and sexy appearance, while burning off any excess flab, if there is any.”

This is how regular women reverse the cause of cellulite dimples and shadows… AND, if there happens to be any excess fat in those zones – it will be burned off as fuel by the muscles. This bonus of losing any unhealthy excess body-fat is nice because it reveals a great body and it works wonders for your health profile.

BUT you won’t learn about these unique slow-tempo movements in the gym or your local health club.”

These body movements are NOT done with typical weights and machine type exercises.” “Most regular fitness instructors don’t even know about this type of targeted cellulite-killing method. (click to watch video)

These muscle-stimulating movements can be done right at home, in total privacy.

The female lower-body has over 90 muscles…

Picture those 90 muscles BENEATH your skin’s surface in your legs, butt, hips and thigh zones. That’s where the magic happens in regards to true removal of mushy dimples and saggy shadows in the trouble spots and problem areas…

Despite what most women have been led to believe, there is a critical difference between a ‘general workout program’ – and a laser-focused, cellulite removal method. The sweetest benefit of this is; you don’t need access to a health club or fitness center.” …”Just click PLAY on this video by Joey Atlas, (M.S., Ex.Phys.) and get it started now:” (it opens in a bigger screen so you don’t miss a thing)

These are simple, unique moves you can start doing today, right in the privacy of your own home. And if you start this type of targeted muscle stimulation method today – you will start feeling results within 2 weeks and seeing results within 3 to 4 weeks.

If the thought of giving up french fries forever is more than you want to commit to, I have some good news for you.

You don't have to give up any foods at all, just re-think the unhealthy foods and replace them with their healthy counterpart.

These sweet potato fries are a perfect example and once you try them, you will wonder why you ever even liked those flavorless oil soaked sticks that most people think of when french fries are mentioned.

Sweet potatoes are one of the GOOD carbs you should eat and they are full of feel good vitamins like B6! They are great source of Vitamin C, D, Iron and Magnesium.

Magnesium is the relaxation and anti-stress mineral. It's critical for healthy artery, blood, bone, heart, muscle, and nerve function, yet experts estimate that about 80%  of North Americans may be deficient.

ALL that and did I mention they taste heavenly?! Make sure you make plenty to share because you WILL be forced to share 🙂

Truth: If you want to burn off extra body fat you MUST jumpstart your metabolism first thing in the morning. Doing a quick 5 minute exercise, like the one I demonstrate in this video, will get your metabolism going…and keep it going all day!

The trick is to do this quick workout before you eat breakfast. That way you'll start your body in fat-burning mode and your body will respond by keeping your metabolism high and burning fat all day.

Much love,

Danette

I talked about this last week but with so many misconceptions going around about weight loss, it can be very difficult to sort out what's fact and what's fiction..and I wanted to get the rest of these to you this as soon as possible.

We all only want to do what works and discard what doesn’t. Weight loss is pretty straightforward and you will lose weight as long as you eat less and exercise more. Most people are looking to optimize this to lose the most weight they can as quickly as possible. A slow steady pace is always best but there are ways to best leverage your efforts.

It can get tiring to be frustrating when you're trying  to lose weight and making very slow progress. If you arm yourself with good information and use it, your progress will not be hindered and you’ll progress at a steady pace.

One mistake many people make is by over exercising. This is counterproductive. Your body gets stressed out when it exercises. Some stress is necessary to raise your metabolic rate and get the fat burning process going. However, if you over train your body is going to produce cortisol which is a stress hormone. Cortisol is indirectly responsible for weight gain.

You will be negating your efforts. This is one reason why people hit plateaus when they try to lose weight. Proper diet and training is making them lose calories but the cortisol is preventing the body from burning its fat stores. Not a fun situation to be in. 60 minutes of exercise daily is sufficient.

Remember, most of your results will be the dependent on your eating habits.

Eat natural, drink natural. You want to be eating wholesome foods that are natural. Vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs, fish. Those are natural foods.

Water is natural. Sports drinks that are supposed to replenish your body are not. Stick with water. Do not consume calories by drinking them. It’s one of the easiest ways to gain weight.

Using machines in the gym. Step into any gym and you have to admit, all the cool, sleek machines look impressive with all the stacked weights, cables and moving parts. But guess what?

Those ugly dumbbells and barbells you see at the corner… Those are the real fat burning equipment. Using machines is not half as effective as free weights. Your body was not made to move in a fixed range of movement. Free weights will make you stronger and recruit more muscle fibers and burn more calories per workout.

Stick to the free weights and leave the machines to those who don’t know better.

Not incorporating fat burning activities in your daily life. It is so common to see people who work out like crazy in the gym but once they are out of the gym, their mind switches off and they forget about burning anymore calories.

As long as you keep moving, you’re burning calories. If your supermarket is 15 minutes walking distance away from your house, go ahead and walk there instead of driving. Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator.

Sit on a Swiss ball when you’re watching TV. All these little things help to burn extra calories and give you a healthier body.

There is absolutely no doubt that as long as you follow these tips, you will lose weight successfully.

Today I am setting aside 30 minutes to make some healthy meals on the go. Nothing derails your healthy eating goals like being unprepared. Trust me, when life gets busy, as it always does (life of a mom, wife, and business woman), I will grab quick snacks such as raw unsalted nuts, fresh fruit or veggies. But there are times when I really want to sink my teeth in to some meat. 🙂 I need more than a snack, I need a meal on the go.

One of the things I am making today is Turkey Meatballs! Full of flavor, filling and everyone loves them. I can double the batch and freeze them for a quick meal or I can take them with me if I am on the go. I also LOVE them on my afternoon salads!

Super easy to make, so lets dive right in.

Losing weight is pretty straightforward. Eat healthier and move more. That pretty much sums it up. However, putting these concepts into practice can be difficult.

Eating healthy and getting used to a clean diet can be tough if you are accustomed to eating common comfort foods. Exercising can be fun but many people see it is a chore that they’d rather avoid. So, it  does require discipline to lose weight.

However, there are some people who are willing to put in the effort and exercise and watch what they eat. Yet, they fail to see results. The reason for this is that even if the concept is simple, there are many little nuances in the concept that need to be followed to maximize weight loss and see quicker results.

• Many people get on treadmills in the gym that have a cool feature to measure how many calories they burn. Then they obsess over the number of calories burned. This is unnecessary. All you need to do is work out as hard as you can within the allotted time you have given yourself. That’s it. Forget the calories burned.

treadmill

Most machines aren’t accurate anyway. Just aim to pant and gasp for air. Keep a record of your training session and aim to beat this record the next time around. Always aim to beat your personal best.

• Lift heavier weights. Aim for a rep range of 8 to 12. Stop listening to the magazines that ask you to do 50 reps of some light weight to build tone. Stick with the heavier weight. Work done is equal to force multiplied by distance moved. More weights means more work done which equates to more calories burned.

 • Have a training plan and follow it. Most people have no real plan when they go to the gym. They just wing it and do whatever they think might be beneficial. That’s like sailing out to sea without a destination. Your ship will float but it’s not going to end up anywhere.

• You need a gym to lose weight. Really? No! Your body doesn’t care where you train. People have lost weight just running on the streets, doing yoga at home and body weight exercises at playgrounds.

playgrnd

There are many videos of lean, fit ladies who work out at playgrounds because they can’t afford a gym membership. So, if you don’t want to get a gym membership, that’s ok. Just exercise elsewhere. A good option for many is my online personal training site that allows you to workout in the comfort of your own home with a professional instructor.

Trying to spot reduce. Sit-ups will not make your tummy slim. Push-ups will not make you lose flab on your arms if that’s all you do. Fat loss involves cardio and full-body resistance training. You need to do high intensity cardio and resistance training.

You will burn fat all over your body and finally reach the most stubborn fat cells. You can't target a particular spot and try and lose fat there.

These are just some of the mistakes people make. There are many more. But for now, make sure you’re not guilty of any of these mistakes. If you are, stop and reassess your situation and get on the right track and you will burn off all those stubborn pounds.

This oatmeal-meets-muffin-tin cake recipe is  a perfect way to have a healthy breakfast available on busy weekdays. You can even make a couple batches and keep them in your freezer for an on the go snack.  You can reheat in your microwave oven for about 40 seconds and voila you have an awesome treat!

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
