5 Tips for Busy Moms to Get Lean and Hot

Archives for January 2015

It's can be very hard for somebody with an infant or little child to find time to work out.

Believe me, I know how occupied us moms are and we  constantly have to attend to our children and their needs.

This is not only time consuming but also very tiring. Mom may be irritable, lethargic and tired of life.

This is precisely why every busy mom needs to take some time out to de-stress with exercise and eat right.

Do not neglect your health. You need to be strong for your child.

These  5 tips will make your training and diet more productive.

You do not need to put up with the flab just because you gave birth. These tips will burn off your fat and they'll revive you… But only if you apply them.

You'll look better and your friends and family will comment, that for a mother, you have an incredible body.

1. Stop engaging in time wasters

Surfing on the internet for celebrity gossip, looking at pictures on Facebook, following the soap opera on TV where the heroine’s partner might have died at sea are activities that will not help you.

wasting-time

You’ll be surprised at how much time you have when you actually cut out these activities. So, cut them out and take some time to exercise. It will do wonders for your health and outlook on life.

You do not need to exercise for hours daily. Even 10 minutes of exercise can raise your metabolic rate and kick-start your body’s fat burning mechanism.

Write down a few workouts that you can complete in about 10 to 15 minutes. Every time you get 10 or 15 minutes to spare, do them.

Did you know that even 10 minutes of skipping can burn fat? Imagine if 3 times during the day you found pockets of time where you had nothing to do and quickly skipped for 10 minutes?

You would have worked out for half an hour. That’s fantastic.

2. Train at home

There is absolutely no need to go to a gym to lose weight.

You don't need to spend a lot of money on fancy workout equipment. I've designed a lot of targeted workouts that you can do in the comfort of your own home.  Anyone can sign up to join my Online Personal Training Site –>The Forever Fit Challenge

Or just take a look at my blog, and  you'll see I have created a lot of great “home workout” or “body weight exercise” videos that are completely free!

A brisk powerful set of burpees, half squats and mountain climbers will leave you exhausted. 10 reps for 3 sets. You should build up your fitness to a level where you can do it in about 12 to 15 minutes.

Watch how you gasp and sweat. Do this twice a day and watch your fitness level improve.

3. Get on a Fat Burning nutrition plan..

You do not need to strive for abs but if you eat healthy and wholesome foods in the right amounts, you will lose weight automatically. You will feel better and look better.

As a busy Mom of 3 myself, I designed my book, which you can get here –> Bikini Body Recipes especially for other busy Moms who want quick, easy and slimming recipes.

4. Drink lots of water

Your body needs water to metabolize fat. Drink lots of it.

5. Set daily goals

A new-born child is life-changing. Very often parents dedicate all their spare time to their kids and forget to look after themselves. This is understandable. However, it would be a good idea to put some time aside for yourself to exercise.

You need to take care of yourself for your children. Set daily, incremental goals to exercise, eat right and aim for a happy, healthy body.

These are my five tips that should be followed by any mom who wants to lose weight and look good.

If you think being lean and healthy means giving up all of your favorite foods, you are going to LOVE my French Toast recipe!

Yes, I even top it with syrup, not a ton but always be sure it's 100% Maple Syrup and not a watered down processed version.

If you haven't started eating Ezekiel bread, you owe it to yourself to find a local grocery store that stocks it.

It is a much healthier bread made from sprouts and healthy grains than the wheat and refined flour and sugary version most commonly found.

TIP: If you can't find it, ask your grocery store manager if they will start stocking it for you. You may be surprised by their answer.

We love having this on weekend mornings and since I'd rather cozy around the fire and watch the snow with my family than slave away in the kitchen, it is quick and easy like all of my recipes.

EASY

FRENCH TOAST

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 slices Ezekiel bread

Let's Shake it up a little bit with some fun ways to get moving! If you think of exercise as drudgery and dread it, it is time to find the fun again.

There are hundreds of exercises to lose weight that you can do and all you have to do is figure out which ones fit best with your likes and lifestyle.

The most common ways to get exercise for most are of course to walk, jog, run, ride a bike, work out in a gym with free weights or use the weight machines, you can use the treadmill, or any of the many cardiovascular work out machines.

Add some of your favorite funky music too!

You can swim, do water aerobics, or do regular aerobics. If you live in a place that has a lot of nice weather you can get some friends together and go to a driving range and hit some golf balls, play tennis, basketball, baseball, softball, or just hit some balls at a batting cage.

I live in the mountains and love to hit the slopes. There are many days when my entire family will go outside and just fly a kite or play tag. The kids love this and the laughter is endless fuel for my soul! Skipping is a great way to put a fun spin on your exercise too.

Hey, you can even make workouts romantic.

My husband and I will make a date to go to the local skating rink or even a hot new dance club. You want to talk about a fun workout, just dance the night away.

If you live near a wooded area like a forest preserve, go for a hike, or canoeing, or row a boat around a lake. You do not have to just get bored doing the same old thing at the gym day in and day out.

I think a lot of people forget that so many of the things I have mentioned are exercise and they do count as exercises to lose weight.

Let's see what else we can come up with.

How about taking a dance class, a Zumba class or a spinning class, Yoga is another good one, ooh, so is Pilates. Now do not knock yoga or Pilate's until you have tried them, they can be very tough work outs.

Did you know there are are twelve stages or levels to Pilate's? Yup, it looks a lot easier than it is and if you are not prepared for how difficult it can be it will kick your butt into next week. Seriously.

If I were to pick some exercises from the things I have listed, I think I would start with walking until I could go for about thirty minutes without feeling like I was dying, then maybe graduate to riding a bike until I get the exact same results.

Everything I would be doing would be making me stronger and then I think I would find a pool somewhere and start to swim.

swimming_lady

Swimming is one of the best things you can do because you are in the water and you get the resistance from the water and you also use nearly every muscle in your entire body to do the swim strokes.

When I could swim for thirty minutes non-stop then I'd hit the free weights a bit.  See it doesn't really matter what you do as long as you do something for thirty minutes everyday of the week.

Do something that you like to do at least a couple of times a week that way you will break up the monotony of going to the gym every day.

Working out should be fun, not tedious or boring.

If you are bored then you need to spice things up and find something to do that is fun.

Maybe there is a nature walk you can take with a group, hey, that would be great when the weather is nice, you could get out and enjoy the best each Season has to offer.

Do some bird watching, maybe catch some pictures of wildlife if you take your camera along while doing exercises to lose weight.

Superbowl Sunday is almost here!

Even if you're not a football fan, if you're like most of us, you'll be heading to a Superbowl Party.

These parties are an American tradition and it can be a very tempting time for derailing your plan for a healthier new year.

There are lots of dips and unhealthy party foods, not to mention the alcohol. I say, live it up a bit and enjoy the night. I always do.

Make sure you have some good healthy options on hand to help fill you up and then have smaller tastes of the other foods you love.

I love bringing my Cowboy Caviar to parties and it always gets gobbled up. You don't have to be a healthy eater to love this one!

It's not a recipe I'd have all the time if looking to lose weight but it is a much healthier alternative to those creamy dips and greasy snacks that are synonymous with Superbowl Sunday.

2-15 oz. cans black beans (rinsed)

1-17 oz. can whole kernel corn

Dressing:

1 tbsp. red wine vinegar

1 clove garlic

1/8 tsp. cumin

3-4 tbsp. lime juice

 2 tbsp. olive oil

½ tsp. pepper

Combine all ingredients in bowl, cover and chill, and garnish with avocado
slices or cilantro sprigs.

Everybody knows that if you consume more calories than you expend, you’re going to end up packing on weight.

So, the first thing that most people do when they try to lose weight is to cut down their food intake.

In fact, more often than not, they cut their calories too drastically.

What many folks fail to realize is that you can burn more fat by eating certain foods.

This comes as a shocker to most people. How is it possible to eat and lose weight? The trick is to eat foods that raise your metabolic rate and leave you feeling satiated.

Is this possible?

Yes.

The first food you should eat is lean meat.

lean_meat_7idmg

Chicken without skin is great. People often obsess about chicken breast or lean cuts of beef.

The fact of the matter is that as long as your chicken has no skin and it’s not deeply fried, which part of the chicken you eat doesn’t really matter.

Meat is protein and even some fat animal fat is Ok.

What really matters is the method of preparation. Grill your meat, steam it, bake it or lightly fry it.

Use healthy oils such as olive and coconut oil.

These lean meats will raise your metabolic rate and help you burn more fat.

Add fish to your diet too. Tuna, salmon and sardines are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Our diet these days serious lacks healthy Omega-3 fats.

These fatty acids are crucial in reducing leptin in our body. Leptin is a hormone that makes us gain weight.

The second food you should make a part of your diet are healthy oils.

Olive oil is a fantastic choice. So is coconut oil. There are barely any saturated fats in olive oil.

Your cholesterol levels will not go up.

oliveoil

Furthermore, olive oil and coconut oils are natural products unlike the normal vegetable oils which are very detrimental to the body.

Another food you should add to your diet are nuts and berries.

Nuts contain many vitamins and nutrients. Nuts like almonds are great for people who are trying to lose weight.

A handful a day will do you good.

Do not eat peanuts. They are not nuts but legumes and peanuts are very calorie dense.

Berries are nature’s appetite suppressants. No need for HCG drops or injections.

Strawberries are one of the best berries you could eat. If you can suppress your hunger and cravings for unhealthy food, that’s half the battle won.

Initially, over 90 percent of people who try to lose weight report that giving up their favorite foods is the hardest part of losing weight.

DSC00289

Even the arduous training sessions can be managed but giving up a slice of pizza for a bowl of broccoli or forgoing the ice-cream for an apple can be extremely tough at first.

So, by eating the foods above, your body will have sufficient vitamins and nutrients.

There will less chance of it craving for nutrients in certain unhealthier food choices.

With time, your body will adapt and you’ll stop craving for all the foods that you can’t live without now.

Once that happens, losing weight will be easy and keeping the weight off will be much easier. That’s the ultimate goal you should aim for.

It's hard to beat a beautiful salad on the table at lunchtime.

Healthy, fresh and colorful veggie options  are just endless and I love to experiment with flavor combinations.

Some are so good that there's not even a good reason to add dressing.

This classic salad is a staple for a reason. It's gorgeous, loaded with lean protein and has plenty of crunch to sink your teeth into.

Nutritional Information: (3-4 oz protein, ½ cup veggies)

This salad is one of the most popular among my friends and family.  It has tons of flavor and is fairly portable so it makes a great choice to pack ahead of time to take along for your day.

Before you buy that box of cereal or protein bar because a TV commercial claimed it's “healthy”, look a little closer at the ingredients.

Fact is MOST so-called “healthy” products marketed by big companies are far from healthy. And sadly, a lot of those products will pile on more belly fat and seriously harm your health.

Watch my new video to find out which popular “healthy” foods to avoid and what you should be eating instead.
