7 Quick Fixes to Restore Your Energy

Archives for December 2017

These days, it seems like we're all trying to fit too much into our days. We’re working and working out harder than we ever have before.

We’re trying to make everybody happy. And we’re not getting enough sleep.

Add all those things up – or even just a few of them – and it leads to exhaustion.

So, is there anything that can be done?

Are there steps that you can take to make yourself feel better and give yourself a boost?

Absolutely!

7 Ways to Fight Fatigue

1. Eat well woman making a salad ways fight fatigue

If you’re grabbing junk food while you’re on the go, it’s the same as putting cheap gas into the tank of your car. You’re going to sputter and stall.

There are plenty of nutrient-rich snacks and foods that you can eat on the run. Make sure that you keep fresh fruits and vegetables handy, and keep drinking water.

2. Get the sleep you need

No matter how much you have to do, you need to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep.

Do what you can to amp up your ability to fall asleep quickly and get high-quality sleep.

Make sure your room is dark. Block out any disruptive noise with a white noise machine or fan. Cut out caffeine after 2:00 p.m. to give yourself a better chance of being able to fall asleep.

Be sure you aren't making any of these 3 big sleep mistakes too!

3. Naps are your friend

A lot of people think that taking a nap hurts their chances of getting a good night of sleep. That is not true, but you need to know how to nap. Don’t let yourself take more than half an hour at a time, and don’t nap too close to your bedtime.

4. Keep a green juice packet ready green smoothie ways fight fatigue

Of all the boosts you can give yourself, a powdered green drink is one of the easiest and most effective. They are loaded with important nutrients and are very convenient.

Not getting enough greens can be a big energy zapper so look for these 5 signs that you need to eat more greens.

5. Snack on nuts

Nuts are one of the smartest snacks around. You can throw a handful into a Ziploc bag and put them in your purse, gym bag or briefcase for easy eating. They are nutrient dense and healthy.

Another good choice is a container of plain Greek yogurt. These are available at most convenience stores, so there’s always one close at hand.

6. Make sure you’re getting some exercise

If you aren’t currently working out, you may wonder how expending more energy will help you feel less tired. But working out does give you an energy boost.

Even a one-mile walk can make a big difference in how you feel.

You can get a full body workout in just 5 minutes that will boost your energy for the rest of the day.

7. Give yourself a break from stress meditating in the sun ways fight fatigue

Sometimes it’s the stress that’s wearing you out. Just take ten minutes a day to do some deep breathing, exercises or to meditate. It will clear your mind and give you a much-needed break.

If you've done all of these things and still find yourself exhausted it could be time to see a doctor. There are some medical conditions like hypothyroidism that could require treatment if your constant fatigue persists.

When you think of what you need to do to lose weight, there’s a good chance that exercise is high on the list.

But the reverse is not necessarily true. When you think about exercising, there are a lot more (and better) reasons to do it than just to drop a few pounds.

There’s no question that moving your body helps you burn off calories. On top of that, building muscles help boost metabolism! But exercise is so much more than part of a weight loss plan.

5 Reasons You Should Exercise Right Now

1. Exercise Will Ease Your Mind

If you haven’t been exercising, you don’t know what you’re missing in terms of stress relief.

Studies have shown that when you work out, it clears the mind of what is bothering you.

It even takes out toxins that build up when you’re stressed. It doesn’t matter what workout you choose. It works, whether you opt for something low impact, like yoga or a high-octane workout like running or biking.

2. The More You Move, the Happier You Will Be

Ever wonder why people who work out regularly always seem to be in a good mood? It’s because exercise makes you happy.

It's one of the cheapest and easiest ways to boost your energy and make you smile.

Studies have shown that when you work out, your body bumps up its production of all the “feel good” hormones. It’s even used to help treat depression.

3. Exercise Keeps Your Brain Young elderly people exercising reasons exercise

As we age, our brains can go through changes. For some, this means memory loss or slow reactions.

Studies have shown that the one thing you can do to prevent this decline is to work out. The more you sit around, the higher your risk that your brain will deteriorate with age.

Even a single workout can benefit your brain!

One study showed that people who don’t exercise lose mental capacity much faster than those who do.

4. Exercise Eases Pain

One of the top reasons people give for not working out is that they’re in too much pain. But the aches and stiffness that keep you away from exercise may actually decrease with more movement.

Here are 2 tricks you can use to relieve lower back and knee pain.

Plus, studies have shown that people who exercise are better able to manage pain when they feel it.

5. Exercise Makes You Healthier Overall

In addition to helping you lose weight, exercise can help you live a long life. Studies have shown that when you work out, you cut your risk of many serious conditions, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

The National Cancer Institute says that people who work out live almost 5 years longer than those who don’t.

And the better your physical condition, the better you will be able to withstand illness and injury in the future. People who work out bounce back faster from surgeries and sickness alike.

You don’t have to become an exercise nut to get the benefits of working out. Set yourself a goal of 2.5 hours of exercise over the course of a week, spread out over a minimum of 3 days a week.
