How Loss Can Lead to Success and Pain Can Lead to Purpose: What I Learned in Ethiopia

One of the most eye-opening, heart-wrenching trips I’ve ever taken was to the northern part of the Tigray area of Ethiopia, where there are millions of people without access to clean water.

You see, I went to Ethiopia as a guest of charity: water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. My company, Mindful Health, had donated $100K to charity: water, and when I had the chance to see the impact our contribution was making, I jumped at it.

I’ll be totally honest: it was hard to see what I saw. But it was also surprisingly uplifting, because I met some of the strongest women I have ever met. The dedication to their families and tribes — even amidst tragic loss, deep pain, and dire circumstances — was awe-inspiring.

I even had the chance to interview one woman who had lost her husband and was caring for a young son with cancer. Her advice to women all over the world is incredibly wise, and not to be missed. It transcends all cultures and circumstances, and it touched my heart so deeply I knew I had to share it with you. I have a strong feeling it will resonate with you, too.

I invite you to tune in to Episode 2 of the new The Danette May Show on YouTube to hear what she said and to get a full behind-the-scenes look at my trip. I know you’ll walk away from this episode changed.
