Who doesn’t love a refreshing glass of lemonade when the weather heats up or your thirst just won’t quit?
It’s a mainstay beverage that’s been around for ages… but never quite like this!
What makes this lemonade so special? The surprise ingredients: turmeric and cayenne pepper!
Turmeric and cayenne pepper… in lemonade?!
Yes! Crazy, I know, but trust me on this one. There’s enough natural sweetener in this lemonade recipe to keep your taste buds happy… but we’re going to take things to the next level with the addition of turmeric and cayenne.
(Notice I stress the words natural sweetener, because I believe fully that white sugar is toxic to the body, and it’s not something I ever recommend.)
So why add turmeric and cayenne pepper to something sweet like lemonade? For the health benefits, of course! (And also for a fun new flavor.)
Turmeric — Full of anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants, turmeric may help boost healthy gut bacteria, increase energy, support your immune response, maintain joint health and flexibility, and more! I’ve added a dash of black pepper to this recipe to help with the turmeric absorption.
Cayenne Pepper — Cayenne pepper is optional but it generates heat in your cells and revs up your metabolism. It also adds a fun and uplifting kick to this recipe, so if you’re game, I recommend you give it a shot.
I also suggest you get organic ingredients when you can.
I’m excited to hear what you think about this unusual but oh-so-yummy flavor combo! If you try it, will you come back and leave me a comment about how you liked it? Feel free to share with your lemonade-loving friends, too!
