3 “healthy” pastas to eat for faster fat-loss

Archives for March 2014

One of the biggest myths in the fat-loss industry is that carbs like pasta make you fat.

Don’t get me wrong…unhealthy pastas (we’ll get to the 3 healthy ones in sec), and certain carbs can definitely cause more fat storage.

They can also lead to insulin resistance and cause certain food sensitivities that will KEEP you in a fat storing environment.

For example, most folks don’t even realize that today’s modern wheat is TOTALLY different from the wheat our ancestors ate, or even the wheat your mom and grandma used to eat.

In fact, research is now showing that just two slices of whole wheat bread can increase blood sugar MORE than than 2 tablespoons of pure cane sugar.

And this is only the beginning.

  • Store bought fruits and vegetables are now loaded with pesticides, herbicides, and even genetically modified organisms (GMOs). These residual chemicals and modified foods can block the absorption of vitamins and minerals — and have been linked to several diseases including cancer.
  • Corn fed beef and pork has been shown to contain 9xs the bad estrogen than natural pasture raised pork and grass fed beef. It also tends to be too high in omega 6 fats compared to its grass fed buddies.
  • Most over the counter dairy are loaded with fillers, hidden chemicals, and poor quality protein. Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are the only two exceptions to this rule, but watch for hidden sugars and preservatives.
  • Store bought egg yolks can tend to be loaded with hormones passed along from the cage raised chickens.
  • Roasted nuts are an “ok” source of friendly fat, but the roasting process basically destroys all the “good” fats.

Even the most popular trendy grocery store chains have been shown to carry so-called “healthy” foods that contain GMO’s, which is basically “fake” food that causes aggressive cancer tumor growth in mice.

I could go on and on, but hopefully you get the point. Today’s food systems are designed to be fast and convenient.

As a result, the nutrient quality is not only poor…and it can be downright dangerous for your health. I’m not trying to be a fear monger. I’m just trying to raise your level of awareness.

Knowledge is half the battle.

And sometimes things aren’t always as they seem.

However, my good friend and fat-loss expert Shaun Hadsall’s 4 Cycle Fat-Loss product allows you to eat things like pasta to burn MORE fat.

Sound crazy?

Well even though I usually save pasta for my cheat days, Shaun just gave 3 healthy pastas that are exceptions to the rule.

=====================

3 healthy pastas that can help you burn more fat

by Shaun Hadsall, Creator of 4 Cycle Fat Loss System

#1: Gluten Free-Organic Brown Rice Pasta (higher carb)

This is still considered a starch, but if you’re a pasta freak give this a try a few hours before or after a workout with a piece of wild caught fish or a turkey burger.

*Use this on exercise days or on Carb UP days when you carb cycle

#2 Gluten Free Organic Black Bean Spaghetti (medium carb)

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. My wife threw some homemade red sauce on it and cooked me up a grass fed burger with some Swiss chard, garlic, and mushrooms on the side.

Man she can cook. 🙂

This has 16 grams of healthy low glycemic carbs and 20 grams of protein. It also only contains one ingredient. Well two really; black beans and water.

*Eat this on Baseline days when you carb cycle or use this if you’re vegetarian for extra protein

#3: Shirataki Spaghetti (low carb)

I’ve basically been working sun up til sun down on the release my newly updated 4 Cycle Fat-Loss system — so I had this particular pasta last night because I’m going low carb this week from not exercising.

It only has 4 grams of carbs per serving, it’s gluten free and vegan…and it tastes like real spaghetti.

My wife cooked it up and than added some free range chicken breasts, shitake mushrooms, garlic, broccoli, bamboo shoots, ginger, red pepper flakes…and then added some gluten free low sodium soy sauce.

YUM!

*Eat this on Carb DOWN or Deplete days when you carb cycle

So there you have it!

Three healthy pastas that can help you burn more fat.

Just make sure to…

  1. Always combine these pastas with a complete protein source (you can get away with eating the black bean spaghetti by itself, but I still recommend adding a little more complete animal protein).
  2. Time your intake of these pastas properly.
  3. Don’t use them everyday.

And that’s pretty much what my new updated 4 Cycle Fat-Loss system is all about.

My friend and controversial nutrition “Nerd” Nick Pineault contributed this concerning article.

It turns out that a lot of banned foods end up in our grocery cart – and contain hidden toxic chemicals that increase your risks of disease and storing belly fat.

Read the article and tell me what you think in the comments below.

Banned foods in your plate?

By Nick Pineault

Author and investigator, The Truth About Fat Burning Foods

Every day, Americans eat tons of dangerous banned ingredients, and

chances are you’re one of them.

I don’t mean to scare you, but to simply tell you the truth.

I’ve spent the last 7+ years researching how our food is made, and discovered dark secrets I have to tell the world – even if it makes me the most HATED expert by the big companies.

Here’s my top 5 banned ingredients that end up in most plates:

1) Ractopamine (in pork)

It’s banned in the European Union, China, and Taiwan – but Consumer Reports found this dangerous drug in 20% of all pork products.

Oh, and as a side note – recent studies also found that 81% of all supermarket meats in the US are contaminated with antibiotic-resistant bacteria which damage your gut flora and slow down your weight loss.

2) rBGH (in milk)

While Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Israel and all European Union countries banned the use of rBGH, this hormone used to increase cows’ milk product is still used in all 50 states.

The use of rBGH increases the levels of IGF-1 hormone in the milk by at least 6 folds, increasing risks of various cancers.

3) GMOs (in almost everything)

Over 50 countries require labeling of GMO foods, and many of them banned GMOs altogether.

In the US, GMO foods are NOT labeled – even if 91% of the population feels like they should be. And because 90% of all soy, corn, canola and sugar (sugar beet) in the US is now GMO, Americans eat their weight in GMO foods each year.

The first-ever lifetime feeding study on the potential health risks of GMOs was published in September 2012. The results of feeding rats GMO corn for two years were very scary:

  • Some rats developed massive tumors that represent 25% of their body weight
  • Liver damage was up to 5 times higher in the GMO group than in the non-GMO group
  • Female rats that ate GMOs had a 3X higher risk of premature death

4) Potassium Bromate (in bread)

Called a cancer threat by the CSPI since 1999, banned from dozens of countries, this ingredient is still used in bread these days.

5) Chloramphenicol (in honey)

This antibiotic used on honey bees has been banned in the US for years, but can still be found in cheap supermarket honey (along with heavy metals) that comes from China.

The concerning thing is that a recent study found that 75% or more of all the honey in the U.S. may be Chinese honey sold as American honey.

Scary, I know. But I know you want to learn the dirty truth about food, and to make the right choices. You can do just that here:

Yours in health,

Danette May

Developing a good habit can be difficult, but it’s a lot less challenging than kicking a bad one! You might be surprised to know that there is one good habit that can not only boost your metabolism and help you lose weight faster, but it’s also easy to build:

spicing up your meals.

Incorporating spicy foods and utilizing spices in your meals is not only a great way to add flavor, but it may just be the edge you need to lose those stubborn pounds. Sound like a fun habit to develop? It is – which is why this is such a no-brainer!

You already know that using hot chili peppers and cayenne can awaken your taste buds, but the substance that’s in those zesty spices, an antioxidant known as capsaicin, can raise the body’s metabolic rate which in turn helps you lose weight faster. There have also been some studies that suggest capsaicin, which is what makes them taste hot, may stimulate brain chemicals that help you feel more satisfied which can prevent overeating.

Did you know that cayenne peppers have actually been used as a treatment for obesity? Both habaneros and jalapenos are known to get the heart pumping and even raise body temperature which also increases your metabolic rate.

Adding spices to your foods, instead of things like butter or cream, also helps you save calories without having to sacrifice flavor.

A cabinet filled with spices can be one of your best weapons for fighting flab.

Don’t be afraid to use them! If you aren’t sure how, or which to use, here are a few ideas that can help.

Ginger

ginger-root

This spice has properties known to increase metabolism. Research has found that it contains qualities that may help suppress the appetite, possibly playing a role in successful, long term weight loss. Try cooking with real ginger or sipping ginger tea.

Turmeric

Turmeric is commonly found in Indian dishes and curries. It’s the spice that gives curry that orange-yellow hue. It contains curcumin, a compound that was found in several animal studies to possibly help weight loss efforts through the regulation of blood sugar levels as well as its influence on body fat composition.  To boost healthy gut bacteria and enhance digestion, I recommend Turmeric + Ginger Capsules. Turmeric goes great with cruciferous veggies. Try sprinkling it on broccoli, kale or cauliflower. It’s also a great match for soups and stews.

Cumin

cumin

This savory cooking spice is frequently found in Latin American, Mexican, Asian and African dishes. It’s another spice known to raise body temperature and metabolism, providing a great boost to your weight loss efforts.  You can use it in curry, or as a replacement for black pepper. Add it to vegetables or lean grilled beef. Cumin and sweet potatoes are surprisingly good together.

Cinnamon

Is there anyone who doesn’t like cinnamon? This is another fabulous spice known to aid weight loss efforts. It helps to regulate blood sugar levels, and as high blood sugar levels can lead to increased storage of body fat, this spice helps to prevent this which allows you to lose weight easier. It can also help you feel satisfied longer so that you’ll eat less. Add a teaspoon to herbal tea, sprinkle it on your oatmeal, or even onto fresh fruit!

Yum. Weight loss never tasted so good!

Danette May
